Exequiel Palacios, el mediocampista todoterreno y completísimo que se ganó el corazón del hincha riverplatense con sus excelentes actuaciones con el Manto Sagrado. Posiblemente sea uno de los mejores jugadores surgidos de las inferiores del Millonario de los últimos 15 años, junto a Enzo Fernández y Julián Álvarez, entre otros.
En diálogo con el diario Marca de España, Palacios habló sobre la final más importante de la historia del fútbol, la final de la Copa Libertadores 2018 entre River y Boca que se disputó en el estadio del Real Madrid, el Santiago Bernabéu: “Fue una locura. De Argentina nos llevaron a España y fue una semana con mucha tensión, parecida a la que vivimos en la final del Mundial. Cada vez que voy a Argentina, la gente de River me lo recuerda. Cada vez que hay un Superclásico, el país se paraliza”.
Además, opinó sobre el presente del campeón de la Liga Profesional 2023 y contó como fue volver al estadio Monumental: “Coincidió que estaba de vacaciones y pude ir al estadio. Estoy muy feliz porque soy hincha de River y todavía tengo compañeros míos en el equipo”.
Además, el tucumano de 24 años contó una situación inédita sobre el momento en el que el Real Madrid lo fue a buscar cuando jugaba en River: “La gente del Real Madrid viajó para hacerme el reconocimiento, pero finalmente no se dio por un tema de lesiones. Soy un chico que siempre quiere más, así que pienso que, si no se dio, fue por algo. Estoy en el buen camino y depende de mí llegar lejos”.
“El Mundial va a quedar marcado de por vida para mí y para toda mi familia. Me quedaron con dos recuerdos. El primero es mi debut, contra México. Debutar en un Mundial, siendo aún joven, hizo que se me vinieran a la cabeza todos mis recuerdos de niño y todas las dificultades que pasé para poder llegar hasta aquí. El segundo es el último penal de la final, el que pateó Montiel. Lo pateó todo el país. Lo pateamos todos”, finalizó Pala sobre el Mundial de Qatar 2022
