El presente de Enzo Fernández no sorprende, un jugador que tiene un nivel superlativo desde que jugaba en la Reserva de River y que fue perfeccionando en su paso a préstamo por Defensa y Justicia con Hernán Crespo como director técnico dándole total libertad en el mediocampo y siendo una de las figuras del equipo campeón de la Copa Sudamericana 2021 y la Recopa Sudamericana 2021. Un jugador que se ganó volver antes de tiempo al club para demostrar que está hecho para el Más Grande, que tiene el ADN River.
En tan solo 53 partidos con el Manto Sagrado, marcó 12 goles y dio 10 asistencias, además de ser una de las figuras del equipo campeón de la Liga Profesional de Fútbol 2021. En el primer semestre se adueñó no solo del mediocampo del Millonario, sino que también del equipo completo. Todas las pelotas antes de llegar al área pasaban por él. Todos los ataques tenían el ADN Enzo Fernández. Un jugador magnífico que River no pudo disfrutar por más de un año porque en junio de 2023 fue vendido el 75% de su ficha por 10 millones de euros limpios + 8 en variables al Benfica de Portugal. Las variables se cumplen cuando juegue 10, 25, 40 y 50 partidos con al menos 45´ en cada uno de los juegos. Cada variable le dará a la institución de Nuñez dos millones de euros.
Y en Benfica, cuando muchos creían que le iba a costar su adaptación al equipo y al fútbol europeo, demostró que está hecho para grandes cosas. En tan solo 7 encuentros jugados con la camiseta de “Os Encarnados” marcó 3 goles y ya se ganó ser considerado por Roger Schmidt, el entrenador del Benfica, como titular indiscutido dentro del equipo.
Lo cierto es que no deja de sorprender la calidad que tiene el mediocampista de tan solo 21 años que tiene grandes chances de ser convocado a la próxima fecha FIFA y, porque no, al Mundial de Catar 2022. No solo eso, sino que además ahora un equipo gigante de la Premier League está siguiendo de cerca a Enzito y es nada más ni nada menos que el Liverpool de Jürgen Klopp. Según informó la periodista inglesa de Sky Sports, Melissa Reddy, el equipo inglés campeón de 6 Champions League “Se ha mantenido atento a Enzo Fernández y si Jude Bellingham hubiera estado en el mercado este verano, habría estado al frente y en el centro de las discusiones”

“The Reds” cuenta con un gran mediocampo con nombres de elite mundial como Jordan Henderson, Fabinho y Thiago Alcantara, Harvey Elliot y James Milner, pero un jugador como Enzo Fernández podría darle un mejor dinamismo en ataque a un equipo que, a pesar de la apabullante victoria por 9-0 el fin de semana pasado ante el Bournemouth, se encuentra en un mal momento a nivel futbolístico.
