El próximo 10 de diciembre, el plantel se reencontrará en el River Camp donde allí conocerán por primera vez al cuerpo técnico de Martín Demichelis. Estarán dos días (el 10 y el 11) haciendo los típicos estudios médicos antes de comenzar cada pretemporada y el 12 viajarán a Potrero de los Funes, en la provincia de San Luis, para comenzar oficialmente la pretemporada, donde estarán hasta el 23 del mismo mes, inclusive.
A la espera de la confirmación por parte del club, el 22 de diciembre será el primer partido de la era Demichelis: se programó un amistoso para ese día (jueves 22 de diciembre a la noche) con rival y estadio a confirmar. Se estima que será ante un equipo chileno por la cercanía que tienen con la provincia Argentina, aunque en caso de que no se logre pautar un encuentro con equipos de dicho país, probablemente se jugará ante Godoy Cruz.
Luego de la primera parte de la pretemporada, así continuará el cronograma de River en su vuelta a Buenos Aires el 23 de diciembre: del 24/12 al 26/12, tendrán días libres por Navidad; el 27/12 al 29/12 tendrá entrenamientos en el River Camp para no perder el ritmo; del 30/12 al 2/01, días libres por las fiestas; y del 3/1 al 18 de enero, tendrán la segunda parte de la pretemporada en Estados Unidos (Fort Lauderdale, Orlando y Miami), donde también jugarán algunos partidos amistosos (se confirmaron 2 de 3 amistosos hasta el momento).
