El encuentro entre River y Fluminense por la quinta fecha del grupo D de la Copa Libertadores fue, sin duda alguna, uno de los mejores partidos en lo que va de la Era Demichelis con un nivel futbolístico esplendido. Además, y como si fuera poco, ese día el estadio Mâs Monumental presentó la nueva tribuna Belgrano Baja Inferior y tuvo por primera vez 86 mil personas alentando al Más Grande. El “Gallinero” fue una verdadera fiesta, a pesar de algunos sucesos que se vivieron en las tribunas.
En la previa, durante y el post partido entre el Millonario y el Flu algunos hinchas, que siguen sin entender que estamos en pleno 2023, volvieron a tener actos racistas con la “torcida” brasilera que se encontraba en el corralito de la Centenario Alta. Tuvieron cánticos y gestos discriminatorios filmados por los propios hinchas del Fluminense y denunciados a la Conmebol que, semanas más tarde, sancionó a River Plate por este suceso.
La sanción de Conmebol contra River por racismo:
➜ CLAUSURA al 50% de la Centenario Alta para el partido de Octavos (a excepción del sector visitante).
➜ Multa de U$D 100.000.
➜ Exhibir una bandera contra el racismo entregada por CONMEBOL.
Conmebol rechazó la apelación de River:
El Millonario había apelado la decisión tomada el 29 de junio, pero la Conmebol rechazó el pedido y, de esta manera, el próximo 1° de agosto, en la ida de los octavos de final de la Copa Libertadores, River recibirá al Inter con tres mil hinchas menos en la tribuna Centenario Alta. El club trabajó en encontrar a los responsables de realizar esos gestos racistas, los identificó y los sancionará duramente con un derecho de admisión y una posible multa económica.
