Tras poco más de tres meses y por tercera vez consecutiva, el Millonario volverá a visitar nuevamente a Vélez Sarsfield. Será este sábado 2 de septiembre, a las 21:30, por el partido correspondiente a la tercera fecha, la Zona A, de la Copa de la Liga 2023. Este encuentro tendrá desde el inicio dos panoramas distintos: la Banda llega en alza tras recomponerse de la derrota en el debut frente a Argentinos Juniors y golear en la segunda fecha, de local, a Barracas Central por 5-1. Y el Fortín se encuentra golpeado debido a que se está en los últimos puestos de la tabla anual y viene de perder ante Independiente, rival directo en la lucha por los descensos, de visitante por 2-1.
Martín Demichelis sigue sin disponer de tres titulares importantes como lo son Rodrigo Aliendro -ruptura completa del tendón del pectoral mayor-, Paulo Díaz -distensión en el ligamento lateral externo de la rodilla derecha-, y Leandro González Pirez, que se encuentra en la etapa final de recuperación de la metatarsalgia. Finalmente, tras los rumores de que podría ingresar en su primera convocatoria, Sebastián Boselli no está entre los 23 jugadores que irán al José Amalfitani a buscar la victoria.
