Esta tarde, por los octavos de final de vuelta de la UEFA Champions League, el Manchester City de Pep Guardiola ganó, gustó y goleó, al estilo River, por 7 a 0 al Red Bull Leipzig de Alemania y clasificó con un global de 8 a 1 a la siguiente instancia del torneo más importante de Europa a nivel clubes. Erling Haaland, compañero de Julián Álvarez en ataque, convirtió cinco goles en 57 minutos y llegó a 33 goles en 25 partidos jugados en Champions League. Monstruos números del noruego que encima alcanzó el récord de Lionel Messi como uno de los tres futbolistas en convertir cinco goles en un partido de Champions (el otro futbolista fue Luiz Adriano).
El delantero argentino campeón del mundo y ex River, la Araña Álvarez, ingresó a los 63 minutos del partido en reemplazo de la figura de la cancha, el Androide Haaland. En los 28 minutos que estuvo en cancha promedió un total de un tiro al arco, siete pases completados de ocho intentados, 11 toques de balón, 1/1 regates completados. Además, no solo ingresó y jugó casi media hora de juego (no venía jugando mucho), si no que tuvo la presencia de una persona muy especial en las gradas.
Según informó Mariano Closs en la transmisión de ESPN del partido entre el conjunto inglés y el equipo alemán, Pep Guardiola invitó al Muñeco a presenciar el partido al enterarse que estaba de vacaciones en Inglaterra. Hace unos días, unos hinchas de River se lo encontraron en el aeropuerto de Inglaterra y subieron la foto que se sacaron con él, que luego se hizo viral en las redes sociales.
Además, cabe destacar que cuando el entrenador español visitó la Argentina y estuvo en Buenos Aires en marzo 2018 en donde se hospedó en la casa de Joan Patsy, el cazatalentos del Manchester City y su mano derecha que vive en nuestro país, el Muñeco tuvo la posibilidad de ir a verlo, pero prefirió esperar: “Prefiero que se dé naturalmente”, contó en Twitter Diego Borinsky que le dijo Gallardo cuando él mismo le consultó si quería contactarse con Guardiola.
