El fin de la corta novela a nivel profesional entre River y Enzo Fernández no fue el esperado: se marchó quedando afuera de la Copa Libertadores en octavos de final y con un rendimiento regular en sus últimos partidos, a tal punto que lo llevo a Marcelo Gallardo a sacarlo a los 62 minutos del ST ante Vélez, justamente en su último partido con el Manto Sagrado.
Pero no hay que quedarse con “lo malo” si no con lo bueno y con lo que logró el mediocampista de 21 años vistiendo la Banda Roja: 2 títulos (Liga Profesional de Fútbol 2021 y Trofeo de Campeones 2021), 53 partidos disputados, 3.853 minutos jugados, 12 goles y 10 asistencias.
Antes de irse hacia Portugal, donde será presentando como nuevo refuerzo del Benfica, habló con los distintos medios de comunicaciones y dejó unas declaraciones:
El mediocampista campeón con el Más Grande de la Liga Profesional de Fútbol 2021 y del Trofeo de Campeones 2021, declaró acerca de como se sintió el partido del domingo ante Godoy Cruz: “Disfruté mi último día en el Monumental, con toda la gente que me saludó, recibí todo el cariño. Fui a despedirme de mis compañeros también, quiero agradecerle al cuerpo técnico y a la gente que siempre me apoyó”.
Enzito viendo la derrota del Millonario ante el Tomba desde afuera:
“River a lo largo del tiempo fue perdiendo jugadores claves pero el grupo siempre tira para adelante. El que venga nuevo le van a dar la oportunidad para que demuestre todo su potencial”, sobre como los planteles de Marcelo Gallardo se fueron recomponiendo con el pase del tiempo y la perdida de jugadores.
También habló sobre el partido de vuelta de la Copa Libertadores ante Vélez: “Fue duro perder con Vélez”.
Además, ya se ilusionó con una futura vuelta y le dejó un mensaje esperanzador a los hinchas del Millonario: “Yo sé que el fútbol me va a dar revancha y voy a ganar la Copa Libertadores con River”.
Por último, ante la pregunta de “¿Qué momento de todos los que viviste en River te llevás?”, el nuevo compañero de Nicolás Otamendi en Benfica contestó: “Me quedo con el año pasado, hicimos un gran año. Yo había llegado en junio y los dos primeros meses me costó jugar y después salimos campeones. Los dos primeros meses fueron duros, me entrené muchísimo para superarme. Fueron momentos muy lindos”.
