A pesar de no haber cerrado un refuerzo en el lateral derecho, un puesto que el equipo necesitaba mucho, el Millonario hizo un gran mercado de pases con la llegada de dos defensores centrales, dos mediocampistas ofensivos y un delantero media punta. Y a estos cinco jugadores se le suma uno más en enero del próximo año, quien ya tuvo charlas con Martín Demichelis y le comentó los proyectos a futuros que tiene, con él presente.
Nicolás Fonseca, mediocampista de 24 años (cumple 25 el 18 de octubre), llega a River a principios de 2024 como refuerzo a cambio de u$s 2.400.000 por el 60% de su pase. El club lo compró en este mercado de pases, pero lo dejó a préstamo hasta que finalice el año en Montevideo Wanderers de Uruguay, club en el que actualmente juega. Daniel Fonseca, su padre y al mismo tiempo representante, tuvo un paso fugaz por el Millonario en 2002. En ese año, jugó un Superclásico amistoso de verano ante Boca, donde marcó un gol y el penal que definió la serie en la tanda.
En las últimas horas Fonseca padre habló con Sport 890, un medio de comunicación de Uruguay, sobre la llegada de su hijo al Más Grande y declaró sobre varios temas interesantes: la charla que tuvo Nicolás con Demichelis, la oferta de otro club de Argentina y la situación que hizo que se decantará por venir a River.
“Había ofertas de dos equipos de Buenos Aires, gracias a dios se pudo concretar lo de River”, comenzó el Conejo. Y luego agregó: “Que Nicolás juegue en River es muy fuerte, yo viví días de mucha tensión. Negociar por tu hijo no es lo mismo que por otro jugador. Hay otras emociones e inseguridades”.
Además, confirmó que tuvieron una charla con el director técnico del Más Grande y contó qué le dijo en ella: “En el encuentro con el míster (Demichelis) Nicolás quedó encantado, lo hizo sentir importante. Le dijo ‘estamos interesados en que seas parte del nuevo River’”. Por último, expresó como decidieron inclinarse por el Millo: “Me sedujo River para mi hijo porque soy hincha y siempre tuve cariño por River, por Enzo (Francescoli). La camiseta de River, el club, el entrenador que le manifestó el interés y tantas cosas más incidieron para que decidiéramos que fuera a River”.
