Matías Kranevitter se transformó en el primer refuerzo de la era Martín Demichelis en River. El volante de 29 años tuvo ayer su primer entrenamiento en el River Camp tras haber firmado su contrato.
El nuevo vínculo del surgido en el Más Grande selló su vínculo con el club por tres años a lo que comentó: “Gracias por la bienvenida, de vuelta en casa, estoy muy contento y ojalá sea por mucho tiempo”.

Tras cerrar todos los trámites tuvo su primera práctica con el plantel profesional de River donde conoció a sus nuevos compañeros y se reencontró con algunos viejos conocidos como Jonatan Maidana y Enzo Pérez, con este último compartió vestuario en la Selección Argentina.
El día de su debut en el Millonario, el Colo utilizó la camiseta número 32 y al siguiente torneo ya comenzó a usar la 5. Este último ya esta ocupado por Bruno Zuculini por lo que uso un nuevo dorsal.

Tras el retiro de Javier Pinola de la actividad profesional para sumarse al cuerpo técnico de Demichelis, Kranevitter lució el número 22 en la camiseta de entrenamiento y en el pantalón.
