Las llegadas de Facundo Colidio y Ramiro Funes Mori y posibles incorporaciones de otros futbolistas generó que River empiece a buscarle salidas a varios futbolistas que no son o serán tenidos en cuenta por el cuerpo técnico del Millonario. En todos los puestos hay, al menos, un jugador que puede tener su futuro lejos de River y hoy se confirmó que uno de ellos ya no formará parte del conjunto dirigido por Martín Demichelis.
Según contó César Luis Merlo, el mediocampista surgido de las inferiores del Millonario, Tomás Castro Ponce, sin lugar en el equipo de Demichelis, jugará en Atlético Tucumán. El futbolista de 22 años disputó algunos amistosos y fue citado al banco de suplentes en un puñado de veces, pero nunca logró asentarse en el plantel, siempre estuvo muy por detrás de la consideración del DT y saldrá sin lograr ponerse el Manto Sagrado en un partido oficial.
Se irá a préstamo por 18 meses y sin opción de compra. Aún no se sabe si tiene cláusula de repesca, pero el futbolista recién volvería al Millonario a finales de 2024. En un principio se rumoreó que el futbolista podía ingresar en la negociación por Joaquín Pereyra, mediocampista del Decano que quiere River, pero finalmente ante la espera por Manuel Lanzini, el club de Núñez decidió prestarlo en una transferencia a parte y, en caso de no realizarse el retorno de Lanzini, negociar en otro traspaso la llegada del futbolista de Atlético Tucumán.

De esta manera, el Millonario empieza a acortar el plantel como pretendía el director técnico Martín Demichelis desde su llegada al club en noviembre del año pasado. Ya se dio la primera salida y se pueden dar, al menos, siete más. A continuación, los 36 futbolistas que tiene River en el plante profesional:

- Arqueros (4): Franco Armani, Ezequiel Centurión, Lucas Lavagnino y Santiago Beltrán.
- Defensores centrales (8): Robert Rojas, Leandro González Pirez, Paulo Díaz, Emanuel Mammana, Jonatan Maidana, David Martínez, Ramiro Funes Mori y Tomás Lecanda.
- Laterales (5): Milton Casco, Enzo Díaz, Andrés Herrera, Elías Gómez y Elías López.
- Mediocampistas (12): Enzo Pérez, Matías Kranevitter, Bruno Zuculini, Rodrigo Aliendro, Nicolás De La Cruz, Santiago Simón, Agustín Palavecino, Ignacio Fernández, José Paradela, Franco Alfonso, Esequiel Barco y Claudio Echeverri.
- Delanteros (7): Lucas Beltrán, Miguel Borja, Salomón Rondón, Matías Suárez, Pablo Solari, Facundo Colidio y Agustín Fontana.
